Was Jesus telling them to calm their own storms next time? Perhaps Mark wrote it for us to feel guilty because we have such little faith when the storms of life hit us. Rationally, that is about it. Pentecost II Proper 5 Mark 3:20-35

Rationally, we let our theology define the words of Jesus. Spiritually, we let the words of Jesus define our theology. It means looking at the Scripture for some new Wisdom. God's forgiveness through Jesus is always there. No matter what it is, we can always be forgiven. Read more

Nicodemus is in the dark by thinking rationally. He wants to know what Jesus is teaching. Jesus is teaching in the spiritual light. He wants Nicodemus to know how to do what He is saying. Nicodemus knows rationally, Jesus is a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs He is doing if God were not with him. He is thinking in the dark when Jesus says no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born from above. Read more

One of the most misunderstood words in our language is "Forgiveness". We need to know what it is not, what it is and to know how to do it. Forgiveness does not mean what was done was alright and we can start all over as if nothing ever happened. If your best friend cheats you and you forgive them it does not mean you have to trust them. Rationally, everyone knows what the Spirit will testify. We testify what Jesus has told us about the Holy Spirit. He will testify on the behalf of Jesus. We are to testify because we have been with Him. He will guide us into all the truth. In his guidance, he will speak what comes to him from God. The Spirit will prophesy about events "to come". The Spirit will reveal the essential nature of God, and show Christ's essential nature and power. Whether the word comes from the Father, the Son, or the Spirit, it is the same. Read more
