Trinity Sunday John 3:1-16

"Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light."

Transform your way of thinking by changing about what you read rationally to how you read spiritually.

Nicodemus is in the dark by thinking rationally. He wants to know what Jesus is teaching.

Jesus is teaching in the spiritual light. He wants Nicodemus to know how to do what He is saying.

Nicodemus knows rationally, Jesus is a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs He is doing if God were not with him. He is thinking in the dark when Jesus says no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born from above. "His rational thinking response is "how can someone be born when they are old?" "They cannot enter a second time into their mother's womb to be born!"

Jesus responds, "You should not be surprised at my saying." For Jesus, "from above" means spiritual, "below" means worldly or rational. "Born" is not the physical birth.  It means where you are coming from.

The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. Rationally, the spirit and the wind are different. They are the same. Spiritually, the wind and the spirit are both invisible. You hear its sound. We know they are there when we can consciously see or discern or feel them. "So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."  We discern them consciously.

"How can this be?" "You are Israel's teacher and do you not understand these things?"

Jesus is speaking spiritually, "No one can enter the Kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit." We are not talking about physical water. It is spiritual water. Flesh gives birth to flesh. The Spirit gives birth to spirit.

We speak of what we know. (experience)

We testify to what we have seen. (discern spiritually, not physically)

You people do not accept our testimony. (you are still in the dark rationally)

I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe. (how to be born again)

How then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?

Whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God. Grace and truth vs. Moses and the Law.
