In today’s story we have a woman who washed and wiped the feet of Jesus. She is forgiven. The question that arises is when was she forgiven? The old classic response is she repented and was then forgiven by Jesus. This is the way much of the church and bible teachers look at what happened. Spirituality looks at forgiveness differently. Sixth Sunday of Easter. When you read the commentaries they center on “keeping the word if we love Jesus”. Their definitions of the word can be all over the place. If we want to know what is John’s definition of the “word” all we need to do is go back to the first Chapter. “In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God, the Word was God.” John’s definition of the Word is the “One and Only who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”  Read more

Fifth Sunday of Easter. We try to understand the meaning of the words of Jesus to feel His Presence. In feeling the Presence of the Wisdom Jesus has in us, we understand the meaning of the words. The word “Glory” is an example of this. There is a common meaning of “we beheld His glory”. John 1:14 His glory rationally might be how magnificent God in Christ is. Second Sunday of Easter. "Peace be with you.” We try to change our worldly life to feel God’s Presence. Godly feeling God’s Presence changes our life. We try to be peaceful to feel His Peace. In feeling the Peace He has for and in us, we become Peaceful.   Read more

Background: The Greek word for Transfiguration is meta (to change) morphoo (form). It also is translated transformation in Romans 12:2. The Transfiguration is a good example of the difference between the worldly language of the letter and the godly language of the spirit. The question is, which one makes more sense? When we think in a worldly manner we only have the evidence that is there. When we look at it in a godly way we are looking not only for what is there, but for what is there that should not be there and what is not there that should be there.  Read more

Spiritual language is natural, conscious and innate. It is not something we learn, it is something we discover. This language is not rationally taught but consciously remembered. Take time to sense the godly Presence within when a spiritual word is added to the rational, worldly reading of scripture. Life starts inside spiritually and moves outwardly to the rational world. Luke 23:33-43. On Christ the King Sunday the scripture used is "They crucified Jesus." Oops, that must be the wrong one. It is all about the crucifixion, the darkest day in the Life of Christ. Why in the world would anyone use that scripture?  Read more

Mark 12:28-34. “You are not far from the Kingdom” Jesus is asked by a scribe to define the greatest commandment. He offers two, one to Love God and the other to love others as we love ourselves. Do the loving thing and there is no commandment (in the Bible) that is greater than these two. The scribe agrees with Him. Jesus says, “You are not far from the Kingdom of God.” Worldly thinking believes he is not far because he knows what the Greatest Commandments are. Godly understanding is he is never far spiritually from the Kingdom of God.   Read more

Mark 10:35-45. "Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your glory." Worldly thinking of James and John is that they want to sit on the right and left hand of Jesus in His glory. Godly understanding knows that He is spiritually already in His glory. They already are sitting on His right and left Hand. The grace of the Presence of God has already been given to all of us. All of us are not always in this Presence.
