The Season of Lent is an opportunity to strengthen our spiritual abilities to look within ourselves. These exercises can help us discover the different meaning looking at the same scripture from the spiritual side can make.

Worldly thinking only knows the physical. Godly thinking knows both can choose which is best for them. Which would you choose in each case?

Worldly, teaching comes from what is rationally learned in the head.

Godly, Wisdom comes from what is spiritually discovered from the Presence within.

OLD TESTAMENT: Isaiah 50:4-9a

Worldly: The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of a teacher, that I may know how to sustain the weary with a word.
Godly: Spiritually, the Lord GOD has given me the tongue of a teacher, that I may know how to sustain the weary with a word.

Worldly, deliverance is protection from physical attack.

Godly, deliverance is protection from spiritual attack.

PSALM: 31:9-16

Worldy: My times are in your hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies and persecutors.
Godly: When my times are spiritually in your hand you deliver me from the hand of my enemies and persecutors.

Worldly, the mind of Christ is rational.

Godly, the mind of Christ is spiritual.

EPISTLE: Philippians 3:4b-14

Worldy: Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus,
Godly: Let the same spiritual mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus,

Worldly, Passover is physical.

Godly, Passover is spiritual.

GOSPEL: Luke 22:14-23:56 or Luke 23:1-49

Worldly: He said to them, "I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you"
Godly: He said to them, "I have eagerly desired to spiritually eat this Passover with you"
