Unlocking the Gospel Secrets of Spirituality

Discover what difference reading these scriptures while Thinking Legalism or Feeling Grace can make.

The Grace Language of Jesus

SPIRITUALITY CAN CHANGE OUR LIFE

Jesus spoke a foreign language. He took literal words the legalist understood and gave them a new spiritual meaning.

Worldly legalism can only think literally. Godly Grace knows the spiritual difference.

Legalism chooses the laws they like. Grace knows only one law, “Love one another as I have loved you.”

Grace is so shy, that if you begin talking about it literally, it disappears spiritually.

Not sure how to apply these? Click here to read the introductory text for the new Bottom Line Meditations

OLD TESTAMENT: Genesis 1:1-2:4a

Literal Religion : God created the male and female separately. Anyone between the two is not of God

Read this scripture literally for its religious meaning.

“God created humankind in His image, in the image of God He created them; male and female he created them.”

Spiritual Grace: No one-hundred percent male or female. All human beings have within them both male and female qualities.

Now quietly move into God's Presence and read this scripture again.

“God created humankind in His image, in the image of God He created them; male and female he created them.”

Did you feel the Grace?

Legalism keeps raising the wages of sin. Grace keeps the best things in life free!

PSALM: 8

Literal Religion: His “name” is known rationally by His works.

Read this scripture literally for its religious meaning.

“Our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth!”

Spiritual Grace: His “name” is known spiritually by His Presence.

Now quietly move into God's Presence and read this scripture again.

“Our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth!”

Did you feel the Grace?

Legalism heads our life in the wrong direction. Grace lets us make U-turns!

EPISTLE: 2 Corinthians 13:11-13

Literal Religion: God’s Presence is theological.

Read this scripture literally for its religious meaning.

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.”

Spiritual Grace: God’s Presence is the experience of our theology.

Now quietly move into God's Presence and read this scripture again.

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.”

Did you feel the Grace?

Grace should be made as simple as possible, but not simplistic!

GOSPEL: Matthew 28:16-20

Literal Religion:The authority of Jesus is what He said in the Scriptures.

Read this scripture literally for its religious meaning.

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”

Spiritual Grace: The authority of Jesus is over all Scriptures.

Now quietly move into God's Presence and read this scripture again.

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”

Did you feel the Grace?

Legalism is cleverly disguised as a responsible adult!
