Eleventh Sunday After Pentecost Bottom Line Meditations

Unlocking the Gospel Secrets of Spirituality

Discover what difference reading these scriptures while Thinking Legalism or Feeling Grace can make.

The Grace Language of Jesus

SPIRITUALITY CAN CHANGE OUR LIFE

Jesus spoke a foreign language. He took literal words the legalist understood and gave them a new spiritual meaning.

Not sure how to apply these? Click here to read the introductory text for the new Bottom Line Meditations

OLD TESTAMENT: Exodus 1:8 - 2:10

Literal Religion: Sees the event of the miracle.

Read this scripture literally for its religious meaning.

“So the girl went and called the child's mother.”

Spiritual Grace: Sees the power behind the miracle.

Now quietly move into God's Presence and read this scripture again.

“So the girl went and called the child's mother.”

Did you feel the Grace?

Sin is not falling down from the Law. It is not getting up into the grace!

PSALM: 124

Literal Religion: Protection is physical.

Read this scripture literally for its religious meaning.

“If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when our enemies attacked us and then they would have swallowed us up alive;”

Spiritual Grace: Protection is spiritual.

Now quietly move into God's Presence and read this scripture again.

“If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when our enemies attacked us and then they would have swallowed us up alive;”

Did you feel the Grace?

The more vital grace is, the less people will seek it!

EPISTLE: Romans 12:1-8

Literal Religion: Tries to rationally conform to the world for their life.

Read this scripture literally for its religious meaning.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God.”

Spiritual Grace: Renews the mind by spiritual awareness of the Presence to discern the will of God for their life.

Now quietly move into God's Presence and read this scripture again.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God.”

Did you feel the Grace?

In grace, erring is human. In legalism, erring calls for blaming it on someone else!

GOSPEL: Matthew 13:13-20

Literal Religion: Belief is based on what is seen physically.

Read this scripture literally for its religious meaning.

“Blessed are you Simon. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father in heaven.”

Spiritual Grace: Belief is based on what is seen both physically and spiritually.

Now quietly move into God's Presence and read this scripture again.

“Blessed are you Simon. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father in heaven.”

Did you feel the Grace?

Legalism talks, but all it ever says is “good-bye”!
