Seventh Sunday in Easter

Unlocking the Gospel Secrets of Spirituality

Discover what difference reading these scriptures while Thinking Legalism or Feeling Grace can make.

The Grace Language of Jesus

SPIRITUALITY CAN CHANGE OUR LIFE

Jesus spoke a foreign language. He took literal words the legalist understood and gave them a new spiritual meaning.

Legalism thinks all truth is literal. Grace knows the difference between literal and spiritual truth.

Legalism chooses the laws they like. Grace knows only one law, “Love one another as I have loved you.”

Legalists are never too old to learn something stupid.

Not sure how to apply these? Click here to read the introductory text for the new Bottom Line Meditations

OLD TESTAMENT: Acts 1:6-14

Think Literally: Thinks the Kingdom is a physical place outside of us.

Read this scripture literally for its religious meaning.

“They asked him, ‘Lord, is this the time when you will restore the kingdom to Israel?’”

Feel the Spiritual Grace: Knows the Kingdom is a spiritual Presence within us.

Now quietly move into God's Presence and read this scripture again.

“They asked him, ‘Lord, is this the time when you will restore the kingdom to Israel?’”

Did you feel the Grace?

The way legalists do not sin is to tell the truth, carefully edited truth!

PSALM: 68:1-10, 32-35

Think Literally: The righteous are those who follow the right laws to get right with God.

Read this scripture literally for its religious meaning.

“Let the righteous be joyful.”

Feel the Spiritual Grace: The righteous are those who get right with God to follow His Laws of Love.

Now quietly move into God's Presence and read this scripture again.

“Let the righteous be joyful.”

Did you feel the Grace?

Eighty percent of legalists consider themselves to be above average!

EPISTLE: 1 Peter 4:12-14, 5:6-11

Think Literally: We humble ourselves to get right with God.

Read this scripture literally for its religious meaning.

“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God,”

Feel the Spiritual Grace: We become humble when we get right with God.

Now quietly move into God's Presence and read this scripture again.

“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God,”

Did you feel the Grace?

Don't play legalism with me - I'm better at it!

GOSPEL: John 17:1-11

Think Literally: “One” means to be in unity and agreement with each other.

Read this scripture literally for its religious meaning.

“That they may be one, as We are one.”

Feel the Spiritual Grace: “One” means to be one in union with the Presence of the Spirit.

Now quietly move into God's Presence and read this scripture again.

“That they may be one, as We are one.”

Did you feel the Grace?

Legalists appear bright until you hear them speak!
