Sixth Sunday in Easter

Unlocking the Gospel Secrets of Spirituality

Discover what difference reading these scriptures while Thinking Legalism or Feeling Grace can make.

The Grace Language of Jesus

SPIRITUALITY CAN CHANGE OUR LIFE

Jesus spoke a foreign language. He took literal words the legalist understood and gave them a new spiritual meaning.

Legalism thinks all truth is literal. Grace knows the difference between literal and spiritual truth.

Legalism chooses the laws they like. Grace knows only one law, “Love one another as I have loved you.”

Legalism is made by lazy people looking for an easier way to do things.

Not sure how to apply these? Click here to read the introductory text for the new Bottom Line Meditations

OLD TESTAMENT: Acts 17:22-31

Think Literally: “In Him” is what we believe about His Presence.

Read this scripture literally for its religious meaning.

“In Him we live and move and have our being.”

Feel the Spiritual Grace: “In Him” is what we experience in His Presence.

Now quietly move into God's Presence and read this scripture again.

“In Him we live and move and have our being.”

Did you feel the Grace?

The probability of legalism watching you is proportional to the stupidity of your action!

PSALM: 66:8-20

Think Literally: “Be heard” refers to audibly.

Read this scripture literally for its religious meaning.

“Bless our God, O peoples, let the sound of His praise be heard.”

Feel the Spiritual Grace: “Be heard” refers to spiritually.

Now quietly move into God's Presence and read this scripture again.

“Bless our God, O peoples, let the sound of His praise be heard.”

Did you feel the Grace?

We may come and go in grace, but legalism accumulates!

EPISTLE: 1 Peter 3:13-22

Think Literally: Sanctifies Christ as Lord to get in their heart.

Read this scripture literally for its religious meaning.

“in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord.”

Feel the Spiritual Grace: Getting into our heart sanctifies Christ.

Now quietly move into God's Presence and read this scripture again.

“in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord.”

Did you feel the Grace?

Legalism is like gas stations that lock their bathrooms. They are they afraid grace will clean them!

GOSPEL: John 14:15-21

Think Literally: Loving Christ is conditional on keeping His commandments.

Read this scripture literally for its religious meaning.

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.”

Feel the Spiritual Grace: Keeping His commandments is conditional on being in His Love.

Now quietly move into God's Presence and read this scripture again.

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.”

Did you feel the Grace?

Legalists appear bright until you hear them speak!
