Second Sunday After Christmas

Unlocking the Gospel Secrets of Spirituality

Discover what difference reading these scriptures while Thinking Leaglism or Feeling Grace can make.

The Grace Language of Jesus

SPIRITUALITY CAN CHANGE OUR LIFE

Jesus spoke a foreign language. He took literal words the legalist understood and gave them a new spiritual meaning.

For legalism, sins are the cause of separation from God. For grace, Sin is separation from God and the cause for all sins.

Matthew 15:12 The disciples came to Him and asked, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this?”

Legalism is offended by grace. Grace is undone by legalism!

Not sure how to apply these? Click here to read the introductory text for the new Bottom Line Meditations

Think literal Legalism: Legalism finds no consolation or closure about traumatic events.

Feel the spiritual Grace: Grace finds consolation and closure in the Presence of God.

OLD TESTAMENT: Jeremiah 31:7-14

Think literal Legalism: “With weeping they shall come, and with consolations I will lead them back.”
Feel the spiritual Grace: “With weeping they shall come, and with consolations I will lead them back spiritually.”

In legalism, temptation bangs on your front door forever. In grace, opportunity always knocks!

Think literal Legalism: Peace is within our physical borders.

Feel the spiritual Grace: Our borders are at Peace within ourselves.

PSALM: 147:12-20

Think literal Legalism: “He grants peace within your borders;”
Feel the spiritual Grace: “He grants spiritual Peace within your borders;”

Legalism may keep you out of jail. God's grace will keep you out of hell!

Think literal Legalism: Places are where God dwells up in Heaven.

Feel the spiritual Grace: Places are where God dwells in us.

EPISTLE: Ephesians 1:3-14

Think literal Legalism: “who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.”
Feel the spiritual Grace: "who has blessed us spiritually in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.”

Legalism is headed in the wrong direction. Grace allows U-turns!

Think literal Legalism: “The beginning” is when history starts.

Feel the spiritual Grace: “The beginning” is before history started.

GOSPEL: John 1:(1-9), 10-18

Think Legalism: “He was in the beginning with God.”
Feel Grace: “He was in the spiritual beginning with God.”

Legalism prays just to pray. Grace prays to know God!
