Third Sunday After Epiphany

It would be hard for a Christian to read St. Paul’s writings and not know we, as the Church, are the Body of Christ. Yet, St. Paul is the only New Testament writer who makes the statement that we are His Body. We are the only Religion that believes this. The Hebrews do not believe they are the body of Moses. The Muslims do not believe they are the body of Mohammed. The Buddhists do not believe they are the body of Buddha. What did the body of Christ mean to Paul and where did he get it?  Read more

Second Sunday After Epiphany

The problem in the Church today is our ignorance of spirituality. When we do not know something and we do not know we do not know it, we tend to think we know it. What the church does not seem to know is how to abide in Jesus.  Read more

Advent III

The God News is the difference between the rationality of worldly legalism and the spirituality of Godly grace. Worldly thinks inside the box. Both John and Jesus called the Sadducees and the Pharisees “a brood of vipers”. They were snakes who stayed in their family box, producing others in their kind of legalism. Anything outside the box is impossible. When the Godly spiritual thinks outside the box, all things are possible.  Read more

Pentecost XXVI Luke 23:33-43

Luke 23:33-43. On Christ the King Sunday the scripture used is "They crucified Jesus." Oops, that must be the wrong one. It is all about the crucifixion, the darkest day in the Life of Christ. Why in the world would anyone use that scripture?  Read more

Pentecost XXIII Mark 12:28-34

Mark 12:28-34. “You are not far from the Kingdom” Jesus is asked by a scribe to define the greatest commandment. He offers two, one to Love God and the other to love others as we love ourselves. Do the loving thing and there is no commandment (in the Bible) that is greater than these two. The scribe agrees with Him. Jesus says, “You are not far from the Kingdom of God.” Worldly thinking believes he is not far because he knows what the Greatest Commandments are. Godly understanding is he is never far spiritually from the Kingdom of God.   Read more

Pentecost XXI Mark 10:17-31

Mark 10:35-45. "Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your glory." Worldly thinking of James and John is that they want to sit on the right and left hand of Jesus in His glory. Godly understanding knows that He is spiritually already in His glory. They already are sitting on His right and left Hand. The grace of the Presence of God has already been given to all of us. All of us are not always in this Presence. It is for those for whom it has been prepared.  Read more

Pentecost XX Mark 10:17-31

Mark 10:17-31."Sell what you own, and give the money to the poor, and come, follow me." How hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! Worldly thinking believes we must sell all we have and give it to the poor so that we can follow Jesus. Godly understanding knows that, in our heart, we cannot depend upon anything other than the Presence of Jesus for our life.  Read more

Pentecost XVIII Mark 9:38-50

Mark 9:38-50. Spiritual Salt is Good. “Have salt among yourselves, and be at Peace with each other." There is more hunger for love and appreciation in this world than for salt. This parable is the difference between one dimensional thinking, what we think salt tastes like rationally, and two dimensionally, how we spiritually use salt to preserve things.  Read more

Pentecost XVII Mark 9:30-37

Mark 9:30-37. “They argued with one another over who was the greatest.” The question to ask is, why every time Jesus told the disciples of His impending death, they argued who would be the greatest? That is, who is going to lead this band after He goes?  Read more

Pentecost XIV Mark 7:1-8, 14-15, 21-23

In Mark 7:6, Jesus said," These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, in vain do they worship me." This parable is the difference between what we think in rational Worldly way and how we think in Godly spirituality. Worldly rational teaching tells people what to do to worship outwardly. Godly spiritual teaching points to how to worship Inwardly.  Read more
