Pentecost XXII Mark 10:46-52

Mark 10:46-52. “Call him!" There are two ways of seeing things, worldly and godly. Worldly understanding sees the physical as real and the spiritual as symbolic. Godly understanding sees the spiritual as real and the physical as symbolic.   Read more

Pentecost XXI Mark 10:17-31

Mark 10:35-45. "Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your glory." Worldly thinking of James and John is that they want to sit on the right and left hand of Jesus in His glory. Godly understanding knows that He is spiritually already in His glory. They already are sitting on His right and left Hand. The grace of the Presence of God has already been given to all of us. All of us are not always in this Presence. It is for those for whom it has been prepared.  Read more

Pentecost XX Mark 10:17-31

Mark 10:17-31."Sell what you own, and give the money to the poor, and come, follow me." How hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! Why would the loving and graceful Jesus be so curt, rude, and judgmental toward an innocent person in distress because of her daughter’s affliction? Worldly rational thinking will make the woman and Jesus as the center of the lesson. They think Jesus insulted her to see if she really believed. Godly spiritual understanding will go past what is written to understand what is not written. It is to look past these two to take a look at the Disciples. Who are these guys?  Read more

Pentecost XIV Mark 7:1-8, 14-15, 21-23

In Mark 7:6, Jesus said," These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, in vain do they worship me." This parable is the difference between what we think in rational Worldly way and how we think in Godly spirituality. Worldly rational teaching tells people what to do to worship outwardly. Godly spiritual teaching points to how to worship Inwardly.  Read more
